Baby Knotts' Nursery Tour

It's DONE!  Without a doubt, hands down, most fun I've ever had decorating ANYTHING!
I can't wait to show you sweet Baby K's nursery.

It's especially fun to finally be writing this post since Michael and I have set up and torn down the nursery 3 times!  Once because we just couldn't wait to see the crib in the space when it arrived, twice because we had to paint, and a THIRD time because we had to move out of our entire house as hardwood floors went in last week.  (More on that later..... OH the adventures!)

So in the middle of my crazy nesting instinct, we were living out of suitcases, painting (I use the term "we" very loosely here), packing and repacking.  Not at all what I had envisioned for month 8 of pregnancy; but looking back I wouldn't have changed it for the world.  It made the final nursery set-up absolutely SO worth it and memorable.   I couldn't be more grateful for a COMPLETELY finished house and a husband who DIY'd his way through to make sure it was just as I'd imagined :)

But back to the nursery.... since we still don't know boy or girl, we kept things fairly gender neutral and surprisingly it wasn't hard at all!  (Probably because I love greys and whites entirely too much!)  I'm so happy with the cloud-like feeling that wraps you up each time you enter the room.   And believe me, I enter at least 10 times daily....I really do!  Ask Michael.  He thinks its weird :)  To balance the whites and neutrals, I wanted to add lots of texture and touches of dark wood tones.  And thankfully, t
he new hardwood floors were the perfect accent!

I didn't really set out with much of a theme, but I gradually fell in love with pieces here and there and watched it all come together, slowly but surely.  It was so much fun to handpick each little treasure and trinket that made its way into this room.   Many of them came from other places in the house, thrift stores, or from the attics of our own childhoods.   I can't wait to share each of their stories with our little one.

Welcome to Baby K's Nursery:

My favorite little nook with my one BIG splurge.
I've seen this Empire Rocker by Nurseryworks in so many lovely nurseries and it seemed like the perfect chair for our space.  The price tag, on the other hand, was intimidating at first.
After several months of saving my pennies, though, it arrived at our doorstep and was JUST as perfect as I'd imagined.  I can't wait to snuggle Baby K in that chair.
The cork board is one that was left over from the days when this was our office.  We just repainted the trim in a very light blue/grey color and added LOTS of ultrasound pictures, and little mementos we've gotten along the way.

A vintage locker basket filled with some of our favorite books sits close to the chair for many bedtime stories to come.

The lamp was a DIY version of one I'd seen at the flea market when we first found out we were expecting.  Since I couldn't afford the $500 price tag, I found a similar column a few aisles over and brought it home to my hero of a husband who had it turned into a lamp in no time!

Other items pictured here:
Side table:  Target Threshold collection
Star Clock/Light:  Aiden and Anais Serenity Star (clock, nightlight, noise maker all in one!)

Little one's bookshelf:
The gallery wall was really fun to create.  Michael and I went through lots of our old baby pictures. He picked his favorites of me and I of him.  The winners made the wall along with a framed book page of Where the Wild Things Are
(a favorite of Michael's growing up and a quick and inexpensive way to make great nursery art.)

And of course, one little baby can never have too many Jellycat stuffed animals.... especially since our dog Huck has decided a few MUST belong to him.

The bookshelf itself was a DIY - painted in chalk paint and backed in drop cloth.

The last little nook holds another chair for cuddling and lots of Aiden and Anais blankets for swaddling.

The reading lamp was a last minute find from Target's Threshold collection.
The only thing left to add to this corner is our mobile on order from the BlaBla collection:

And finally....the crib.
In the early months of pregnancy, I spent hours pouring over high end cribs online and in baby boutiques around Charlotte.
There were so many beautiful ones; but none that I felt worthy of their very steep price tags.

Target to the rescue!!
{see link here }

This one is from the Lolly & Me Collection and just HAPPENS to be named the "Ellery Crib"
{Which also just happens to be the name of Baby K if she's a girl!!}

I loved the clean lines and molding details on each end.
Once I knew it was "the one," my sweet mother-in-law surprised me with it for my birthday.
It arrived in no time and thankfully was a breeze to put together.
The only problem was, it ended up being a little too cream in color for the all-white bedding.
But nothing that a quick coat of non-toxic Annie Sloan Chalk Paint couldn't fix....

The bedding is a custom order from New Arrivals.

I couldn't be more pleased with its understated elegance.
If you're looking for bedding, you have to check them out!  Their customer service is excellent and quality is out of this world.
They also made our changing pad covers:

The dresser was a yard sale find and painted in Annie Sloan's Paris Grey.
The frame is a Sugarboo design.
I can't WAIT for it to hold a picture of our little nugget inside.
3 MORE WEEKS!

 And although you've seen it before, here's one more glimpse at the closet that Michael worked so hard one.  I think he's pretty proud of it!
{Don't read too much into those pink boots.  They were just too cute to pass up!}

One more glimpse at my favorite room in the house:

I'm sure that very soon, the bedding will be stained, the floors scuffed, and the books chewed- but I wouldn't have it any other way!
We are blessed beyond measure.
Thanks for indulging me with a tour....
