The Friday Find: Kilim Rugs

I have to say....I don't hate the Kilim rug trend!
They add a splash of color and a dash of boho - making any room instantly happier.

A bit of "Kilim" history for you . . . this type of rug weaving migrated from Turkish tribes to parts of present-day Iran, Turkey & Afghanistan.  Some evidence of kilim woven textiles dates back to 7,000 B.C. - making it one of the oldest traditions in rug design in the world.

What sets them apart from other rug weaving traditions is two-fold:
Kilim are flat woven and have no pile. {unlike Persians}
&
They always incorporate some geometric design.

The best part?
A kilim will work with any design style and in ANY room!
I love how sharp they look in contrast to white interiors, especially.

Suffice it to say, kilims have stolen my heart {and perhaps lots of my dollars too}
But that's why I wanted to show let you in on a little budget friendly Kilim secret:

Just type "kilim" in the search bar and you'll be amazed.... I promise!
These are some of my current favorites on Etsy at the moment:

What I'd really love to do is collect a few and someday create this:
I adore the contrast of the dark formal architecture and the bright boho chic-ness
{that's not really a word, is it?}
of the Kilim remnants pieced together.

Happy Shopping & Happy Friday!!
