Is it just me or are all kitchens starting to look the same? Why is it that other rooms in our homes are unique and speak to our own personal styles; yet so many of our kitchens look absolutely identical? When it comes to the kitchen, why have we all {including me} bought into the idea that we must choose between subway tiles and those tiny mosaic glass tiles that already seem outdated?
**Disclaimer: I do love a subway tile back splash - in fact, we have it in our own kitchen.
HOWEVER, I can't help but be drawn to something different when it comes to back splashes.
Enter: Moroccan tiles.

Game changer for sure!

Perhaps my favorite supplier of these beautiful and unique tiles is Tabarka Studio.
I've spent hours {way too many hours} dreaming of the perfect tile to spice up our kitchen.
These are a few of my favorites:

All of these tiles are hand glazed and colors can even be customized.
Guaranteed to make your kitchen one of a kind.
Now, being a lover of all things simple, CRISP, and mostly white, I don't know if I am brave enough just yet to take the plunge and do an entire back splash in tile.
Baby steps, right?
What I do love is the idea of just an accent pop!
Although this is obviously not a kitchen, just an accent of tile can certainly pack quite the punch.
Or even provide understated elegance on the floor:

The only catch?
They ARE a bit pricey!
HOWEVER, there is a more affordable solution:
Glass arabesque tiles such as these pictured above aren't completely unaffordable.
Even stores like Home Depot are carrying it for roughly $12/sq. foot.
Although my favorite source for {marble} arabesque is:
Mission Stone & Tile.
Wonderful selection but slightly higher prices.
You win some, you lose some, right?
How about you....Do you love this look?
What are some other ways you make your kitchen uniquely yours?
