Driftwood Decorating

It's true... I have such a weakness for driftwood lately.  Everything about it is just completely refreshing ...the color, the texture, the nostalgia - SOO irresistible.   Mostly though, I think my favorite part is rescuing these little gems on the shores of the lake and finding the perfect new home for them.
Honestly, some of my favorite memories of the summer were taking nice, long canoe rides with Michael, searching for these little treasures.  Some nights, I wasn't quite sure we'd all make it home safely.  The driftwood was piled (and I do mean piled).

Here''s a "before" picture of a driftwood hunt about to commence.  (Notice if you will, who is relaxing with a drink in hand and who's doing all of the work.)  I promise I helped him on the way back.
Thank goodness for a strong husband who somehow manages to get us all home safe and, shockingly, even DRY!

Here are just a few of the projects we've made so far.
(Now really ya'll know...when I say "we" here I mean Michael.)
But he's sweet to let me take some of the credit.

The latest....a simple but gorgeous votive candleholder.  We used it last weekend for a dinner party and it was just perfect!

Our very FIRST driftwood project...gotta have a place to hang your hat.  It's found a home in our entryway and I still love catching a glimpse of it every morning.

And this little gem...could just be my favorite!

There's lots more to come...but I better run out to the garage and see what fun things are happening there.  When Michael saw me writing about driftwood, I think he may have just gotten inspired.  I'll keep you posted!!
