The Office... work in progress

Snow days in the south are wonderful little blessings of forced relaxation.  OR in our case.... redecorating.
(the view from the back deck on this snowy morning)

So after dreaming and gushing over a few pictures, I've decided we are LONG overdue for a remodel.  It's been at least a month :)  Home office, you're up next!

Here's what I'm thinking:

Color Scheme
CRISP white (of course) mixed with dark wood and metal.  This makes for a wonderfully confused mix of industrial chic and crisp cottage style.  I know, I really should choose one but I just can't.  Love them both entirely too much.
So with the backdrop of white, we'll add in touches of architectural details and industrial vintage.

Furniture
The star of the show, taking center stage will be Michael's Christmas present:  an antique drafting table.
No picture just yet, but it's similar to this dreamy Restoration Hardware piece:

(LOVE the contrast of the metal and wood)

To add some softness, we have a fabulous antique french cane couch in the works.  It's being recovered now, but I'm hoping it will look a little something like this:

And finally, the computer/work desk:
Michael is working on building a galvanized pipe work space with a barn door top!
Can't WAIT to show that to you!

Lighting:
Loving these pendant lights from Restoration Hardware to drop down over the work station:

But we might go with a more cost effective option from Home Depot:

Storage:
So far, that's a WHOLE lot of neutral going on.  We're going to have to have some pops of color to make work a bit more fun and cheerful.  That's where storage comes in.  It's easy to change up when one color or another gets to be a bit too much.
The plan is to take out the closet and make it a wide shelving unit with plenty of room for organized storage space.  I'm thinking:

(Obviously it will not be nearly as grand as Tara Guerard's studio, but you've gotta dream big, right?)

Inspiration Boards:
These are a MUST.

Hopefully I'll have something similar to show you after it's all complete.  If we're snowed in tomorrow, we just might make that happen!
Michael is already makin' it happen (see that pipe?  It's for the desk)

Here's to a warm and wonderful day to you all!
