A Trip to Mary Jo's

If summers had themes - this one would, without a doubt, be all about FABRIC.
We covered paint last summer...so, you know. . . we needed something new.

With fabric on the brain, I realized how LUCKY we are to live near one of the country's finest fabric destinations.

Mary Jo's in Gastonia is known far and wide for their huge selection and unbelievable prices!  If you live near and haven't yet, you MUST make a day of it!  {And you just might stay the whole day}
There is SO MUCH to choose from, so if you go - have a mission in mind or you might just walk away with half the store and have your whole house redecorated in your mind- which is exactly what Michael swears I have done.
Before you go, though, be sure to read Mary Jo's story {here}.
Girl's got gumption!!

Though we didn't get to meet Miss Mary Jo this time, I did fall in love with far TOO many of her gorgeous  threads!

Geometric and Ikat seemed to catch my eye this trip:

Gorgeous colors and soft texture

I love the dreaminess of this fabric.  I ended up going with a similar Robert Allen style.
For $12.99 a yard!

The chevron is always so hard to pass up.  Left with the grey.
Shocking to NO one, I am quite sure.

More ikat love.

And now. . . the winners that made the trip home with us:

This tapestry fabric from Suzanne Kasler was the ONE.
Stopped me in my tracks.  Clearly, I rushed to the cutting station immediately.
3 yards. . . I'm thinking pillows. BIG, dramatic pillows.

I'm hoping Michael won't notice the floral pattern on this one. He's not at all shy about his aversion to flowers in home decor.  Funny, because everything else he {pretends} to like and goes with the flow.  Not flowers...I learned week 2 of marriage.

Maybe he won't notice if I slip it in oh-so-not-subtly like this:

These lovelies were my mom's birthday present.  The best part of all?  She helped me pick them out!
Never ever will I tire of shopping with my mom.  She's got the style!

Map fabric!  Stay tuned for this project. . . but honestly, your guess is as good as mine.  No clue yet.  But it's a map; and those, I never pass up.  Even ones of the fabric variety.

And the last bold, dramatic print of the day.

The hard part was remembering what goes with what:
22x22 , 20x20, lumbar, Euro, ikat, chevron, floral, rope, cording, trim.....AHHH!!

Mom & I {calmly} sorted this afternoon.  It all ended up OK :)

Lots to work with!
And you can bet you'll see SOME of those fabrics making their home on this fun little
Craigslist find.

I, of course, immediately fell for the tufting but not crazy about the mustard velvet.

Nothing a little upholstery can't fix!

Speaking of upholstery . . . they have these handy dandy charts at Mary Jo's that I thought some of you may love :

Although the styles are different, here are my inspiration photos for our settee:

Enjoy your week!!

P.S.  Mary Jo's ships any fabric . . . just sayin' :)
