In honor of my first official Mother's Day coming up soon
{thanks to this girl}
I thought I'd share this fun idea with other new (or even new-ish) Mamas out there!
Cards have never been my strong suit - I love pouring over them at Hallmark, even buying them in bulk for other people.
{Although the act of actually putting a stamp on them and getting them in that mailbox has always seemed like somewhat of a daunting task to me.}
But I've never found a great way to keep the cards that others send to me in one place. A place that I'll actually LOOK at them again!
I mean after all, isn't why they cost the price of a gourmet MEAL these days?
BUT a journal?? A journal, I can do!
All of those memories there in one spot, no last minute Dad rush to Target, and it's so much fun to quickly skim back over the pages and watch our family grow and change.
With that in mind, here's my very first Mother's Day tradition:
Step 1: Choose a timeless and somewhat sturdy journal that will hold up over the years
Step 2: Recruit your husband and little ones to create a new page in the journal in lieu of cards each Mother's Day
Step 3: Read and re-read over and over again each year, thanking God for the blessings of your little ones and the memories you've made together!
{I could cry just thinking about it}
------
Now, since I'm pretty sure Michael doesn't ever visit the blog, I might just have to shop for a journal myself . . . but if you know me, you know I don't mind this task ONE LITTLE BIT!
Here are some of my favorites!
First, from Urban Outfitters - their "Oh Snap Leather Journal"
Crazy about these colors.....
{Love the metallic look - but it's only in stock in the UK}
Second & Third options from the ever wonderful Sugar Paper:
{I'm afraid my gold foil obsession is taking over my life! Stay tuned for posts about "going gold" in our home....}
And finally...from none other than Kate Spade herself:
This one says "Eat Cake for Breakfast" on the front...
which, naturally, should be my 2nd Mother's Day Tradition!!
Happy {early} Mother's Day to you wonderfully stylish mama's out there!
Cheers!
